Danks gets even

The White Sox got a much needed performance out of John Danks last night. If they lost last night panic mode would be in full swing in Chicago today. Instead Danks stepped up and pitched a sensational ball game last night. The Twins Perkins helped the Sox with a couple of meatballs one of which Quentin delivered in to the stands for the second game in a row. The Sox need Quentin to get hot and stay hot to keep pace with the Twins. The Sox rotation must step up and carry this team. While I see the Twins ultimately pulling away with the division I do not dismiss the Sox due to the pitching they have been getting.

The Reds had a disasterous series with the Cards. Hopefully they learned that you win the division and then you proclaim your greatness. The Cards are a tenacious team that finds ways to win. The Reds better get a hot streak going immmediately or they are done. Cards will play good Baseball from here on out and it will put serious pressure on the Reds. We will find out in the next two weeks what they are made of. Pujols is overdue for an extended hot streak and if he makes an MVP push to close this season it may not matter what the Reds do.

Central Division races take center stage

I may root for the Yanks but i am not afraid to admit they bore me these days. The Reds and Cards coming to blows last night was a thing of beauty. Nice to see someone other than the Yanks and Redsox have a hatred developing. Should be a fun race the rest of this summer between these two rivals. The teams meet Sept 3rd in St. Louis and if the two are still neck and neck we may get some more fireworks. I am hoping the Reds can stick around till the end. I think Votto has outplayed Pujol

The Twins bats coming to life against the Sox vaults em into 1st place. A win over the Sox today and the Twins might be ready to go on a run that will seperate them from the surprising Sox. The Sox could not keep up the pace ( amazing 25 of 30) that had vaulted them into first before the All Star break.

Out west in the NL the Surprising Pads and Giants are gearing for a huge weekend series. a series win by the Padres and they may just win this division. Both Teams are producing just enough offense to back the terrific pitching they get from these staffs. Lincecum needs to get back his form quickly or the Giants will be in trouble.

Any way you look at it it has been a great week for baseball.
